Low back pain is a very common medical condition that is reported to affect over 90% of the population at some time in their lives. Low back pain affects patients in many different ways, with each patient having their own unique experience. Low Back Pain typically can be difficult to diagnose and treat, as there are many different causes and contributing factors, unique to each individual.
Many structures in your back may cause pain:
Any bones, ligaments or muscles throughout your spine may be injured
Discs in your back may be strained or prolapsed
Spinal nerve roots may be irritated causing nerve symptoms into our legs
As osteopaths we are highly skilled in recognising and identifying the various structures in your back that may be the source of your pain. A detailed medical history will be taken, along with a thorough osteopathic examination to assist the diagnostic process and to identify any red flags that maybe present. Sometimes we may need to refer a patient for X-ray or MRI.
Osteopathy focuses on getting to the root core of your problem. We provide gentle osteopathic treatment to ease your pain and discomfort and to better facilitate your recovery. Treatment techniques include soft tissue and joint mobilisation, manipulation, massage and various stretching techniques.
