The highly skilled team at Better Health Osteopathy in Fendalton, Christchurch, are dedicated to your health and wellbeing. We pride ourselves in offering excellent standards of osteopathic care to our patients who range in age from the elderly to children and babies.

What Does Better Health Osteopathy Do?

Using a mixture of case history taking, osteopathic evaluation and hands-on treatments, the Better Health Osteopathy team seeks not only to treat immediate symptoms but to delve deeper and treat the underlying cause of the pain or discomfort, thereby preventing ongoing issues and returning patients back to everyday health as quickly as possible.

Our Treatment Approach

Our Osteopathic treatment often includes gentle mobilisation and manipulation of joints and muscles myofascial release to release the tension in soft tissues (ligaments, tendons, muscles).

Rehabilitation exercises also often form an essential part of our treatment plan. These can include muscle stretching, strengthening, and proprioception retraining programs. An integral component of the overall treatment plan is to address the underlying cause of the dysfunction and educate the patient on ways to improve their health moving forward.

What We Treat

Better Health Osteopathy treats a broad range of sporting injuries, pains, strains and other ailments. This means if you are suffering from any type of musculoskeletal pain, our highly skilled osteopaths should be able to assist you with a diagnosis and a tailor-made osteopathic treatment and rehabilitation plan.

We specialise in treating patients with chronic and ongoing injuries which appear to be slow to heal and have not responded well to other treatment modalities. We always aim to treat the root cause of your pain and not just the symptoms. See below for a more in-depth look into some of the conditions and health issues Osteopaths can treat.

Who We Work With

At Better Health Osteopathy, we work closely with other registered healthcare providers, including; GPs, surgeons, musculoskeletal specialists, sports doctors, midwives, and more. We aim to provide the best level of care for all our patients, whatever their needs, and will happily work with whoever you choose to achieve the desired outcome.

If you need help from other health practitioners, we have an established network of surgeons, musculoskeletal specialists, and sports doctors with whom we work closely to achieve the best treatment outcomes for our patients.

Imaging Services Referrals

Our Osteopaths can refer our patients directly to Pacific Radiology for X-rays and Ultrasounds. If the patient is willing to pay for private healthcare, we can also make direct referrals for MRI scans. We can also request steroidal injections at Pacific Radiology, a radiologist will perform this treatment.

Are Better Health Osteopathy ACC Registered?

At Better Health Osteopathy, we accept ACC patients and file all the necessary paperwork. Patients are then granted up to 16 treatments to be used over 12 months from the date of injury. However, interestingly, ACC data shows that a patient typically recovers from their injury after about 3.6 osteopathic treatments.
